Joanie Danielle Hendricks, 39, was killed on July 14, 2018, in Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee. Brandon Hendricks reportedly pulled out a handgun and shot Joanie multiple times in the head and neck; the shooting occurred in the child’s presence. Joanie, a lifelong Hamilton County resident, had worked at Middle Valley Animal Hospital for 18 years and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Brandon Hendricks called 911 and was arrested. Mental health evaluations found an insanity plea could not be sustained; he later pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. At sentencing in May 2023, a judge gave him 35 years for murder and a concurrent 15 years for aggravated child endangerment. Hendricks told the court and Joanie’s family he was sorry and told his son he didn’t know why it happened, saying he had "snapped."
If anyone knew Joanie, her routine, or was in the Soddy-Daisy area that afternoon, please share information that might help complete the picture of that day.
