Mekhi Luster was 18 when he was shot and killed in Knoxville, Tennessee, on the evening of April 23, 2018. He was found in the backyard of a home on Amber Glades Lane in West Knox County with a gunshot wound and was taken to UT Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The shooting was linked to a dispute over a marijuana deal valued at about $375.

Authorities identified 18-year-old Isaiah T. Styles as a suspect and located him the next day at his mother’s home in the Farmington neighborhood. Detectives say Styles ran and jumped fences before a K-9 unit caught him; he was booked and charged with second-degree murder, evading arrest, and resisting arrest, and the charges were later upgraded to include felony murder and first-degree murder. At trial a recorded interview was played in which Styles acknowledged involvement in the drug deal and said he did not intend to kill Luster. The jury found Styles guilty and he was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 51 years.

Did anyone in the Amber Glades Lane or Farmington neighborhoods see or hear anything that night that could shed more light on what happened?
