Keondre Jenkins, 20, was shot and killed on Sunday, January 14, 2018, in the parking lot of Independence Place Apartments on Fort Campbell Boulevard in Clarksville. Jenkins, a private stationed at Fort Campbell and originally from Portsmouth, Virginia, was seated in a friend’s car when a verbal dispute earlier that day with Prince Jamal Ligon escalated to violence.
Police say Ligon returned to the complex with Jamarcus Edwards, who drove and, according to investigators, supplied the handgun. From Edwards’s vehicle, Ligon fired multiple rounds into the car where Jenkins was sitting. Jenkins was struck in the chest, exited the vehicle, ran a short distance and collapsed; he later died despite first responders’ efforts. Both Ligon, 20, and Edwards, 21, were arrested the next day and initially charged with criminal homicide.
At trial in February 2020, Ligon testified that he was aiming at the car and did not know Jenkins was inside. In March 2020 a jury acquitted Ligon of first-degree murder but convicted him of reckless homicide; sentencing was set for April 2020.
If anyone knew Jenkins, his movements that night, or has information about Edwards’s role, please share what is known.
