A birthday gathering at an apartment on Beech Street in Clarksville turned deadly on the night of November 11, 2017. Just after 11 p.m., multiple 911 calls reported shots fired; when officers arrived they found 21-year-old Devonte Wilkerson and a teenage girl with gunshot wounds. Both were taken to hospital, and Wilkerson later died while the juvenile underwent surgery and survived.
Investigators concluded seven rounds had been fired into the apartment through a metal door. The probe focused on 25-year-old Timothy True Hutcherson, who turned himself in the morning after the shooting and was charged with criminal homicide. Prosecutors portrayed the attack as gang-related. At trial in September 2020 Hutcherson admitted on the stand that he fired the weapon, saying he was scared and trying to protect himself and a friend; the jury convicted him on multiple counts, including second-degree murder in Wilkerson’s death, and he received an effective sentence of twenty-three years.
Did anyone at the party or nearby that night see activity around the apartment before the shooting?
