Johnathan Stewart, 33, was found dead on Selma Avenue in East Knoxville on the afternoon of September 24, 2017, with a single gunshot wound to his upper left back. The shooting occurred near a house under renovation; several workers at that site were present but initially denied knowledge of the shooter.

Over a year later, on October 14, 2018, several of those witnesses identified Jeremy Jerome Hardison, known as Big Country, as the person who shot Stewart. A grand jury indicted Hardison for first-degree premeditated murder in January 2019. Testimony at trial described Hardison shooting Stewart in the back, and an AR-15 seized from Hardison’s residence matched ballistics from the scene.

In September 2021 a Knox County jury convicted Jeremy J. Hardison of first-degree murder and he received a life sentence. Hardison was also identified as a person of interest in the disappearances of three other individuals from late 2017 and early 2018. Did anyone in East Knoxville see or hear anything that afternoon on Selma Avenue that could add detail to the timeline?
