On September 24, 2017, a violent confrontation on Cherry Tree Drive in Clarksville, Tennessee, left 48-year-old Michael Kehoe shot in the hip and thigh. Police arrived at about 5:14 a.m.; Kehoe was conscious and identified his alleged shooter. Witnesses said the fight began when Tanner Burgess, 27 at the time, struck Kehoe, then two other men hit Burgess. Burgess reportedly left, threatened to retrieve an AK, returned and shot Kehoe. An 8 mm casing was recovered inside the home and Burgess was found hiding in nearby woods and arrested.

Kehoe’s condition declined and he died two weeks after the shooting. The autopsy listed the cause of death as homicide with complications from a gunshot wound, but defense testimony at the October 2019 bench trial emphasized an enlarged heart and prescription drugs in Kehoe’s system and disputed typical post-injury complications. The judge convicted Burgess of attempted voluntary manslaughter, aggravated assault and employing a firearm in the commission of a dangerous felony.

Did anyone in Clarksville witness the confrontation or know the people involved on Cherry Tree Drive that morning?
