Samantha Stormy Carter was 16 when she was fatally shot at the Richland Inn in Pulaski, Tennessee, on September 4, 2017. She was 22 weeks pregnant and had named her unborn daughter Scarlet Danielle. Carter was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville but died of her injuries.
An 18-year-old boyfriend, Colton Perryman, was present at the scene and was arrested. He was initially charged with second-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, and tampering with evidence. Perryman later entered a no-contest plea to amended charges of two counts of voluntary manslaughter and one count of tampering with evidence, receiving split confinement: two years incarcerated followed by twelve years supervised probation. A subsequent probation violation led to revocation and an order that he serve the remainder of his sentence in confinement.
Does anyone have information about Samantha’s life in Pulaski or the events at the Richland Inn that night?
