On the evening of April 4, 2017, a verbal dispute near Baughn Street and Church Avenue in Henderson, Tennessee, turned deadly when 36-year-old Lamar Anderson, a Black man, was shot multiple times while sitting in his car. Anderson managed to drive away from the scene but crashed a short distance later; he was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead. Friends and family remembered him as someone working to turn his life around for his young daughter, and the community held a candlelight vigil in his memory.

Investigators identified 41-year-old Phillip Lee Williams Jr. as the sole suspect. Williams left the Henderson area after the shooting and was later located and arrested in St. Louis, Missouri, on May 3, 2017, then extradited to Tennessee to face charges; he was charged with first-degree murder in connection with Anderson’s death.

Does anyone have information about the confrontation that led to this shooting or witnessed events near Baughn Street and Church Avenue that night?
