Rachael Madison, 44, fled Indiana in November 2016 to escape an abusive marriage and stayed with relatives in Ormond Beach, Florida. Her estranged husband, Jarvis Wayne Madison, had threatened her and previously fired a gun at her before she left. Within two weeks of her arrival in Florida, Jarvis tracked her to her aunt’s home, began watching her, and confronted her while she was out jogging. He shot her three times, placed her body in his SUV, and fled the state.
The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force arrested Jarvis Madison in Louisville, Kentucky, on December 2, 2016. He admitted to the killing and led investigators to a shallow grave off a highway exit in Kodak, Tennessee, where Rachael’s body was recovered; the murder weapon and her cell phone were found in his vehicle. A woman who had been romantically involved with him, former FBI employee Belenda Sandy, provided money and new tires and later pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice.
What information do readers have about Rachael’s time in Ormond Beach or the days leading up to the shooting?
