Brandy Morrison was 23 when she was reported missing by her family on January 28, 2017, in St. Louis, Missouri. Family members had received disturbing phone calls that referenced a house on Laura Avenue, and a fire at that same address on the following Monday heightened concerns.

St. Louis homicide detectives followed a garbage collection route from the North St. Louis neighborhood to a landfill in Marissa, Illinois, about 50 miles away. With cadaver dogs, they located Morrison’s body there on January 31, 2017. An autopsy determined the cause of death to be a gunshot wound to the head; investigators believe she was killed sometime between January 27 and January 30, 2017, before her body was discarded.

Two men who lived in the 6100 block of Laura Avenue were taken into custody. Paulren H. Stepter, 51, was charged with first-degree murder, abandonment of a corpse, tampering with physical evidence, and armed criminal action. Courtney Williams, 40, was charged with tampering with physical evidence and abandonment of a corpse; some reports indicated he also faced first-degree murder and armed criminal action charges.

If anyone knew Brandy or has information about her movements in late January 2017, please come forward.
