Theddeus Moore, 22, was shot and killed in the pre-dawn hours of Sunday, November 1, 2015, on Knoxville’s Cumberland Avenue near the University of Tennessee campus. He was found behind a business shortly before 5:00 a.m. with a single, fatal gunshot wound to his upper chest. A friend was attempting to render aid before he was taken to UT Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Moore was visiting from University Park, Illinois and was not a university student.
Knoxville police interviewed Moore’s friend and other potential witnesses and reviewed evidence, but the investigation did not immediately identify a suspect. No arrests or suspect identifications have been publicly announced. The shooting on a busy entertainment strip left a family seeking answers and a community unsettled.
Did anyone in the area on Cumberland Avenue that morning see or hear anything that could help solve this homicide?
