A two-year-old boy, Joseph Eli Bankston, was fatally shot inside his home on Princeton Drive in Clarksville, Tennessee, on the evening of October 4, 2015. A 22-year-old Fort Campbell soldier, Brandon Jimenez, was also shot and critically injured in the same attack. Initial reports described the shooter as a Black male who fled in a maroon Chevrolet Impala.

Investigators traced the incident to a plot allegedly orchestrated by Joseph’s stepfather, Fort Campbell soldier David Wi. Phone records showed Wi in contact with another soldier, Zackery Alexander, immediately before and after the shooting; both men were arrested. A .40 caliber Smith & Wesson recovered from Alexander’s vehicle matched shell casings from the scene. Prosecutors said the killings were part of a murder-for-hire scheme tied to a contested custody fight and life insurance policies listing Wi as beneficiary.

David Wi and Zackery Alexander were charged with premeditated murder; both received life sentences and additional years. Does anyone have information about the people involved or the family that could help clarify unanswered details?
