Maulik Patel, 31, was shot and killed on the evening of January 11, 2017, while stopped at a traffic light on northbound Goodfellow Boulevard at Interstate 70 in St. Louis. He was returning home from his convenience store when a newer four-door car with tinted windows, possibly a Honda Civic, pulled up alongside his Hyundai Sonata and occupants began shooting while he remained in his vehicle. Patel exited his car trying to flee but was shot multiple times and died at the scene; he was the sole occupant of his vehicle.
The suspects fled immediately and authorities have no usable description of them. The motive is unknown. His wife Ripal and their son survived him; family members described him as a dedicated family man and helped fund a significant reward, with CrimeStoppers adding to the fund, but no arrests have been announced and the homicide remains open.
If anyone saw the vehicle or has information about the shooting, please come forward to investigators.
