Beau Osmond Reid, 29, was fatally shot multiple times outside his apartment at the Lincoln Courts public housing development in East Jackson, Tennessee, in the early morning hours of July 17, 2015. Police were called around 3:53 a.m.; Reid was found with gunshot wounds and died after being taken to Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Investigators initially detained two men, Nathan Handle and David Thomas, and searched apartments on Carver Avenue and within Lincoln Courts. Surveillance footage and witness interviews later identified 20-year-old Christopher Orlando Lyles and a 17-year-old male, Phillip Williams Jr., as the primary suspects. Witnesses said Reid had stepped outside after someone knocked at his door and was confronted and shot by Lyles and the juvenile.
Lyles and the juvenile were charged with first-degree murder, aggravated burglary, two counts of attempted aggravated robbery, two counts of aggravated kidnapping, and employing a firearm during a dangerous felony. In December 2016 Lyles was convicted and given a life sentence; the judge called Reid an innocent victim who had been responding to a disturbance at his home. Did anyone in Jackson at the time see or hear anything that could shed more light on what happened that night?
