Casia Watkins, also known as C’asia Patton, was 13 and a seventh-grader at Winfree Bryant Middle School when she was killed in a drive-by shooting at her home in Lebanon, Tennessee, on January 5, 2015. The attack left her with fatal gunshot injuries and devastated her family and community.
Authorities identified 19-year-old Joseph Christopher Hendry Jr. as the primary suspect. He was apprehended by U.S. Marshals and charged with multiple counts including felony first-degree murder, premeditated first-degree murder, criminal attempt to commit first-degree murder, and four counts of aggravated assault. Hendry later pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and received a 25-year prison sentence to be served at 100 percent; a later appeal to reduce the sentence was denied.
Casia is remembered by family and friends as a bright, vibrant young person whose life was cut short. Does anyone have information about Casia, the shooting, or the events leading up to January 5, 2015?
