There was no arrest because it was an accident. He grabbed a loaded handgun and accidently shot himself...
A 4-year-old boy, Eldin James Rogers, died after a shooting in Clarksville, Tennessee, on August 17, 2014. Emergency responders found Eldin with a single gunshot wound to his chest and he was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, where he died. Initial Clarksville Police Department reports suggested the wound was self-inflicted after the child reportedly found a loaded handgun, and investigators described the incident as a tragic accident while the inquiry was ongoing.
Eldin was identified as the son of Jestin Dale Rogers and Rachel Hamilton Rogers and was survived by a brother; the family held a memorial service. No arrests or charges were reported in the immediate aftermath as authorities continued to investigate the sequence of events that led to the fatal shooting. If anyone has information about what happened that day or about firearm safety at the residence, please come forward.
