Michael Alexis Lee Rowe, a 30-year-old Black / African American man, was fatally shot while sitting in a vehicle during a conversation in Johnson City, Tennessee, on July 4, 2014. The death was later ruled second-degree murder.

A Johnson City man was arrested and charged in connection with Rowe’s killing; the case went to trial and resulted in a conviction in August 2024. During the trial defense counsel alleged the state had withheld evidence, and a motion for a new trial was filed claiming the undisclosed material might have affected the outcome.

Rowe was the son of Kenneth Honey Jackson and Caroline Calley Jackson, with birth father LaFonda Young Cook. He was engaged to Alyssa Michelle Watson and was father to Michaeus Myon Tahmell Rowe, with another son, Michael Alexis Lee Rowe, Jr., reported as unborn. A celebration of his life was held July 9, 2014, and he was buried in West Lawn Cemetery.

Did anyone in Johnson City have information about Rowe, where he spent time that summer, or the events of July 4, 2014?
