Louis Michael Tammaro II, 31, was found dead in the backyard of his former girlfriend’s home on Ackia Drive in Lake Tansi, Crossville, Tennessee, in the early morning of June 20, 2014. Deputies arrived about 4:45 a.m. after a neighbor called 911 to report a shooting and discovered Tammaro with a fatal gunshot wound to the head. The home belonged to 36-year-old Stephanie Cole, a special education teacher who had recently broken up with Tammaro; investigators say he had gone to the house to collect personal belongings and the couple had been attempting reconciliation.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation led the inquiry. Cole was taken into custody at the scene and later charged with first-degree murder. Investigators reported she used a neighbor’s gun. In March 2016 Cole pleaded guilty to first-degree murder, apologized in court, and was sentenced to life in prison with the statutory minimum before parole eligibility of 51 years. Tammaro’s family remembered him as generous and beloved.
Did anyone in the Crossville area know Tammaro’s routines or recall his movements the night of June 19–20, 2014?
