A dispute among several men in Madison, Tennessee, turned deadly on February 10, 2014, when 25-year-old Jamahl Saunders was fatally shot on Berwick Trail. The shooting was the result of an exchange of gunfire rather than a one-sided attack; scene evidence indicated at least two people were actively firing when Saunders was struck.
Police reports say Saunders and 22-year-old Darius Montez Tate allegedly began the confrontation by opening fire on two men sitting in a car across the street. During the ensuing shootout, Saunders was caught in the crossfire and killed. Authorities later identified Tate as a primary suspect, arrested him without incident, and charged him with reckless homicide and two counts of attempted first-degree murder; he was held in the Metro Jail on a $200,000 bond.
What details about that night or these men might help clarify how the exchange started and who fired the fatal shot?
