A Saturday night college basketball celebration in Jackson, Tennessee turned deadly in the early hours of Sunday, February 26, 2012, when a dispute at the Karma Lounge escalated into gunfire. Nineteen-year-old LeCarlos Todd of Memphis was struck and killed; 19 other people were injured, some by gunshots and others trampled in the panic. Investigators concluded that at least three different people fired handguns into the crowded club.
Police identified 30-year-old Travis Steed of Jackson as the shooter whose round killed Todd while Steed was aiming at someone else. Steed was himself shot and wounded by patrons who returned fire and was arrested at the scene. In August 2013 a Madison County court found Steed guilty of multiple counts, including felony murder and second-degree murder in Todd’s death, and sentenced him to life plus 24 years.
Did anyone who was at Karma Lounge that night or who knew LeCarlos come forward with details that helped the case?
