On the night of October 27, 2016, two men were fatally shot in the Penrose neighborhood of St. Louis. Officers responded about 11:00 p.m. to a shooting in the 4800 block of Margaretta Avenue and found Paul Schneider lying in the street with multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene. During canvassing, detectives located Sylvester Kendrick in the rear of a property on the same block; Kendrick had suffered a single fatal gunshot wound to the head and was also pronounced dead at the scene.

Homicide detectives opened an immediate investigation and canvassed for witnesses, but no arrests or charges have been reported. The murders of Sylvester Kendrick and Paul Schneider remain open as investigators continue to seek information that could identify a suspect or suspects.
