David Lewis, 43, of Jasper, Texas, was killed on December 4, 2022. Local authorities concluded his death was a homicide after finding multiple injuries inconsistent with accidental causes.
Investigators collected forensic evidence at the scene, including DNA, fingerprints, and other trace material, and interviewed acquaintances and family who had contact with Lewis in the days before his death. Several witnesses reported suspicious activity near his residence the night he was killed. Police identified and arrested a primary suspect who had been seen in the area and who had a documented history of violent behavior; that person was charged in connection with the case.
Prosecutors presented forensic findings and witness testimony during the trial to establish a sequence of events and motive; the defense challenged evidence and witness credibility. The jury returned a guilty verdict and the court imposed a substantial prison sentence.
Did anyone in Jasper have contact with David in late November or on December 4, 2022, or observe anything unusual near his home that night?
