Jackuelin Rubi Solorio Ocegueda was 18 when she was found shot and lying in the driveway of an apartment complex in Victoria, Texas, on the early morning of December 3, 2022. A Victoria East High School graduate, she danced Ballet Folklorico, enjoyed art, painting and reading, and was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. Family and friends remembered her by the nickname Jackie.

Local authorities investigated the shooting and a 15-year-old was detained and charged with murder; the suspect was taken to the juvenile justice center in Victoria County. The community mourned Jackuelin’s death and awaited the legal process to move forward.
