Chungu Mishele, 24, was shot multiple times and killed in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Yeomans Road in Abilene, Texas, on November 19, 2022. The shooting happened around 2:30 a.m.; Mishele was found with gunshot wounds to his chest and shoulder and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators identified Brandon Neely as the shooter after an altercation in the parking lot. Court documents say Neely was called to the scene by his sister, Ciara Williams; Neely and several other men confronted Mishele, and Neely fired the shots. Neely was later arrested in Willis Point, Texas, and indicted for first-degree murder; he is being held on a $1,000,000 bond. The investigation remains active as authorities gather further evidence.
Mishele, of Congolese descent, had recently moved to Abilene with his girlfriend and was expecting twins. His family, originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo, had fled to Zambia before resettling in the United States. If anyone witnessed the shooting or has information about what happened that night, please come forward.
