Mitchell Allen Weemes, 24, of Magnolia, Texas, was shot and killed on July 15, 2022, in the parking lot of Mike’s County Store at 32002 HWY249 in Pinehurst. The shooting happened at about 11:45 PM after a verbal altercation with an unknown Black male. The man produced a firearm and shot Weemes; Weemes was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses said the suspect fled north on HWY249 but was apprehended about 12:10 AM based on their descriptions. The suspect was identified as 22-year-old Daniel David-Joseph Ryan III and was charged with murder; a $150,000 bond was set. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is investigating and had noted next-of-kin notification was pending in initial reports.
