An 11-year-old boy, Bryson Bryce Duncan Collins of Centerville, Texas, was killed on June 2, 2022, while at his family’s ranch. Bryson and four other relatives — his grandfather Mark Collins, 66, and cousins Waylon Collins, 18, Carson Collins, 16, and Hudson Collins, 11 — were attacked and died of gunshot and sharp-force injuries. Authorities found the bodies during a welfare check at the property.
Police say the attacker was Gonzalo Lopez, a fugitive who had escaped from a prison transport bus about three weeks earlier and who had no connection to the family. Lopez reportedly stole an AR-15-style rifle, a pistol, and a truck from the ranch and fled; he was later killed in a shootout with police in Atascosa County, south of San Antonio.
Bryson attended Northpointe Intermediate School in Tomball ISD and was a member of Magnolia’s Cowboy Church. His cousins also attended schools in the Tomball Independent School District. The community has been deeply affected by the deaths.
If anyone knew the Collins family or has information about the events leading up to June 2, 2022, please share what can help investigators or the family.
