Russell Vernon Reado, a 71-year-old African American man, was found dead inside his Maple Avenue residence in Port Arthur, Texas, on May 10, 2022, the victim of a fatal gunshot wound. Police treated the death as a homicide after responding to a shooting call and the Port Arthur Police Department opened a criminal investigation.

Investigators identified 24-year-old Lace Skyler Christian as a suspect and later arrested her. Evidence cited in the case includes GPS data from a tracker Christian was wearing that placed her at Reado’s residence multiple times and security camera footage showing her black Toyota Camry near the home on several occasions. Christian initially said she went to borrow Reado’s car and check on him after a call, but phone records and investigators reported inconsistencies with that account. Bonds were set at more than $1 million and the Criminal Investigation Division continued gathering evidence.

If anyone knew Russell Reado or has information about his movements or the area around Maple Avenue on May 10, 2022, please come forward with tips.
