Gerardo Nino, 31, was found fatally shot inside a Laredo home during the early morning of May 3, 2022. Officers responded to reports of shots near North India Avenue and Guerrero Street at about 3:54 a.m.; while searching the area they heard a woman screaming and discovered Gerardo lying on the ground with gunshot wounds. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. He was a lifelong resident of Laredo, born in Sioux City, Iowa, and worked as a Juvenile Officer for Webb County. He is survived by his parents, two brothers and many relatives and friends.
Investigators described the shooting as someone intentionally firing at the home, possibly stemming from a personal feud. The probe resulted in several arrests, including a teenager identified as Alexander Lopez, another minor and several adults; those charged with murder included Gerardo Rocha, Ashley Renea Guzman and Carlos Valero. Lopez, who was 15 at the time of the killing, was certified to be tried as an adult and later pleaded guilty and was sentenced. Rocha went to trial and was acquitted in June 2026.
Does anyone have information about Gerardo, his movements that night, or the intersection near North India and Guerrero?
