Kentoria Nicole Edwards, a 52-year-old woman from Richardson, Texas, was fatally shot on April 18, 2022, outside a Starbucks during a meeting about custody involving her granddaughter. Edwards reportedly had full custody of the child, a 3-year-old great-granddaughter, and had agreed to meet the child’s mother, Tranisa Octavin Trana Watts, 23, at the coffee shop. Watts allegedly produced a handgun and shot Edwards multiple times in front of the child, who was not physically harmed. Edwards was taken to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead.
Watts was apprehended at the scene while attempting to leave with her daughter and was charged with capital murder; bail was set at $1 million. Edwards’ family described her as a loving, supportive figure — like a second mother — and loved ones have posted tributes calling her a superhero and a diamond. A GoFundMe campaign was set up to help cover funeral costs.
Does anyone have information about that meeting or what led up to the custody exchange?
