Cade Caviness, 19, of Longview, Texas, was shot and killed in the early morning hours of Sunday, January 30, 2022. Around 2:30 a.m., Pittsburg Police responded to a 911 call about a shooting in the 600 block of Jefferson Street and found Cade with multiple gunshot wounds; a Camp County justice of the peace pronounced him dead at the scene.

Police later received a second call about a victim in the 100 block of Daingerfield Street and found 18-year-old Patrick Hawk of New Diana, shot once and treated and released at the scene. The Pittsburg Police Department’s homicide investigation determined both men had been shot at the same location on Jefferson Street. Investigators identified a suspect and, prior to trial, Jonathan Phillips was sentenced; the case is considered solved.
