Xavier Domingo Gonzalez was 14 and from Garland, Texas, when he was fatally shot inside a convenience store on December 26, 2021. He was an innocent bystander who had been waiting to buy tacos for his grandparents when the shooting occurred; the attack also killed two other teens, 17-year-old Rafael Garcia and 16-year-old Ivan Noyala.
The suspected shooter is 14-year-old Abel Acosta, who reportedly had a prior dispute with Rafael Garcia and Ivan Noyala but no known history with Xavier. Abel is believed to be at large and to have left the country with assistance. Abel’s father, Richard Acosta, was convicted of capital murder for driving his son to and from the scene and was sentenced to life without parole. The Garland Police Department has offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to Abel’s whereabouts.
Xavier’s mother, Lluneli Lopez, and his uncle, Rafael Gonzalez, have spoken about the family’s grief. Xavier often spent time at his grandfather’s ranch in Hunt County, which the family says is full of memories. The investigation remains ongoing; does anyone have information that could help locate Abel Acosta or otherwise assist the families?
