Bianca Vasquez, 22, was shot and killed on December 17, 2021. Officers responded about 11:30 p.m. to a gunshot call in the 1700 block of South 3rd Street; she was found in the 300 block of Bella Drive and later died at a hospital from a gunshot wound.

Garland Police identified 19-year-old Lucio Angel Ortega as a suspect; he was arrested in Caldwell County, Texas, charged with murder, held on $1 million bond and was awaiting transfer to the Garland Detention Center. Detectives continued to investigate and search for a motive.

Vasquez is survived by parents Jose and Erica and sons Yoziah and Prince, plus siblings Emilio Jr., Nathan, Naomi, Lydia, Emily, Victoria and Aurelia. If anyone has information about the events of December 17, 2021, please share what is known.
