Malakai McAfee, an 18-year-old African American male, was found shot to death in Plano, Texas on November 9, 2021. He was discovered around 7 a.m. in the 800 block of Arbor Downs Drive, about one block north of Warwick Drive; police had initially responded to reports of gunfire near midnight. His death was ruled a homicide.

Six people were arrested and charged with murder in connection with McAfee’s killing: 18-year-old Sonja Katerina Bohanon, 19-year-old Davante Amon Polk, 19-year-old Imani Hawley, 20-year-old Alvin Lee Kirk, Jr., 19-year-old Bradon Awah Nagah, and 17-year-old Larry Donnell Smith. Nagah and Smith were already in custody on other charges when they were implicated. Authorities have not disclosed an exact motive; reports note McAfee was facing felony charges for selling drugs at the time.
