Ashley Elizabeth Barlow, 37, of Beaumont, Texas, was shot to death outside a Beaumont business on October 23, 2021. A longtime probation officer with the Jefferson County Community Supervision & Corrections Department, she was remembered as kind, humble and a devoted mother to three children, Bradley, Trinity and Tyson.
Authorities say the shooter was Ashley’s husband, Terry Barlow. The couple had been separated and Ashley was reportedly trying to leave him when an argument turned violent. Terry Barlow allegedly shot her multiple times; he was arrested at the scene and charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Surveillance video reportedly captured the shooting and witnesses, including Ashley’s sister Amanda Buck, later described the brutality of the attack as Ashley pleaded for her life and for her children.
The family has been deeply affected; Amanda Buck has been raising Ashley’s children and sharing memories of her strength. What details about the events leading up to the shooting or opportunities for intervention are still unclear to those following the case?
