Walter Guillermo Ayala, 39, of Midland, Texas, was fatally shot on October 17, 2021. He and two other men, James Davidson and Gilberto Tapia-Lopez, had been celebrating a friend’s birthday at a bar and later went to a residence shared by one of the victims and an acquaintance, identified as Kevin Alexis Martinez.

When the group arrived at the residence, Martinez allegedly walked outside with a rifle and began shooting. Ayala and the two other victims were pronounced dead at the scene. Ayala is remembered by family and friends for his love of music, dancing, and time with his family; he was married and the father of five children.

Martinez, then 23, was described as a roommate of one victim for about four months before the killings. He was located and taken into custody by the Hereford Police Department on October 21, 2021, and charged with three counts of capital murder, each carrying a $3 million bond.

Did anyone in the Midland area know Walter, his family, or have information about that night that could help clarify what happened?
