Christopher Angel Paredes was a 17-year-old senior at Harlingen High School when he was shot and killed on October 6, 2021, at the Sunshine Apartments in the 1600 block of Sam Houston Boulevard in Harlingen, Texas. Harlingen police were called to multiple reports of gunfire at about 7:45 p.m.; Christopher was found deceased at the scene and two other people were injured. One injured person was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital and another walked in with similar wounds.
Investigators arrested two people: 19-year-old Phillip Michael Martinez was taken into custody while driving a gray Nissan sedan and charged with murder and three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon; his combined bonds were set at $1,195,000. Eighteen-year-old Deann Ruiz was charged with tampering with evidence and given a $17,000 bond. Christopher played on his high school basketball team, studied auto collision, and was active in his church.
Does anyone have information about Christopher, that night at the Sunshine Apartments, or the people involved?
