Travae Monique Jackson, 28, of Midland, Texas, was killed on September 27, 2021. Known in her community for a lively, caring personality, she attended Midland High School and was active at Faith Tabernacle Pentecostal Church. She is remembered by family, friends and her nieces and nephews.
Investigators report Travae had a protective order against her former boyfriend, Kionne Devaughn Lewis. On the morning of the killing she sent a video showing Lewis trespassing on her property and recorded a conversation in which she asked him if he was going to murder her. Lewis then broke into her apartment and shot her. He used her phone to lure another man, Matisse Guidroz, to the apartment and shot him as well; Guidroz escaped and alerted police.
Lewis fled but was arrested the next day in Roswell, New Mexico and charged with capital murder and aggravated assault. The investigation involved the Midland Police Department with assistance from the Texas Rangers. Does anyone have information about Travae’s last known movements or saw activity around her apartment that morning?
