Dominique Kahalil Jones, a 26-year-old African American man, was found assaulted and with a gunshot wound in the 5200 block of Stagecoach Lane in Garland, Texas, and later died at a local hospital on August 21, 2021. He was discovered in front of a house and did not survive his injuries.

Garland police identified 26-year-old Kyhari Clines as the suspect. Clines was located in a nearby house; after a prolonged standoff he surrendered and was arrested. A firearm was recovered at the scene, and Clines was charged with murder and held in the Garland Detention Center without bail. The investigation into the assault and shooting is ongoing as authorities work to determine what led to Jones’s death.
