Lonnie Scott, a 54-year-old African American man, was found shot to death inside his Port Arthur home on August 10, 2021. Officers answering a report of suspicious activity in the 2200 block of 17th Street discovered Scott inside his residence; the cause of death was a gunshot wound, and investigators say he had been shot twice in the head at medium range. The incident occurred around 9:28 PM and a witness reported seeing a black male in a red and blue cap, gray hoodie, and blue jean shorts running through a neighbor’s yard.
In December 2022 a Jefferson County grand jury indicted 24-year-old Lace Skyler Christian of Port Arthur for Scott’s murder. Authorities reported evidence linking Christian to the scene, including GPS data from a tracking device she was wearing while out on bond that placed her at the location around the estimated time of the killing. Scott’s family has held public remembrances, including a balloon release on the one-year anniversary, and has urged anyone with information to come forward.
Does anyone have information about the night of August 10, 2021, or recall the witness description in that neighborhood?
