Odalys Hernandez, a 46-year-old Hispanic woman, was shot and killed on August 7, 2021, at a condominium on South Padre Island, Texas. The shooting occurred around 10 p.m. when police responded to reports of a family disturbance; officers found Hernandez and two other Hispanic women, Zulema Hernandez-Napoles, 47, and Sandra Napoles, 65, dead from apparent gunshot wounds.
A 23-year-old man, Yordi Barthelemy of Kerens, Texas, fled the scene and later turned himself in; he was arrested in Port Isabel and charged with capital murder of multiple persons and held without bond. Authorities have not released a motive, and the relationship between Barthelemy and the victims is described as unclear. Barthelemy entered a plea of not guilty and claimed self-defense.
