Amanda Dee Bain, 39, was one of four people killed in a July 20, 2021, attack at a trailer home on Texas Highway 110 north of New Summerfield, near Jacksonville, Texas. The other victims were John Clinton, 18; Jeff Gerla, 47; and Ami Hickey, 39. Authorities say the suspects went to the trailer to buy a gun from Clinton, took the gun and shot him at the end of the driveway, then entered the home and shot the other residents in their bedrooms while they were sleeping.

Autopsy findings reported that Gerla was shot once in the ear, while the female victims, including Bain, suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the head and torso. Arrests followed a tip; three Jacksonville men — Jesse Pawlowski, 20; Dylan Welch, 21; and Billy Dean Phillips, 37 — were charged with capital murder and each had bond set at $1 million. The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office says the investigation is ongoing.
