Kelvin Shepherd, 20, was fatally shot on June 13, 2021, in Humble, Texas, during what was described as a car sale gone wrong. Shepherd and a friend went to the 15100 block of Winter Dawn Way to look at a car that was for sale. During negotiations, two men, Ashim Taylor and Brandon Harris, allegedly attempted to rob them; Shepherd was shot and collapsed on a nearby home’s front porch.
Taylor and Harris reportedly fled in Shepherd’s car, a forest green 2006 Chevrolet Malibu; deputies later located the vehicle. The suspects turned themselves in shortly after the incident. Taylor was charged with capital murder and Harris was charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon. The suspects were taken into custody and questioned by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Division.
Shepherd’s friend ran from the scene during the incident but returned when deputies arrived. The case underscores the risks of meeting strangers for transactions. If anyone has information about the events on June 13, 2021, or knew Kelvin, please come forward.
