Kameron Henderson, a 21-year-old African American man and former standout football player at La Marque High School, was fatally shot in Texas City, Texas, on May 31, 2021. The shooting happened just after midnight on Memorial Day after an altercation at a Shamrock gas station on FM 1765. Witnesses said Henderson was followed from the station to The End’s Sports Bar on FM 1765, confronted the occupants of a black car, and was then shot in the upper thigh/groin area. He was taken to HCA Mainland Medical Center, where he died.

Family members described Henderson as having a big heart and beloved in the community; his mother, Nacale Hackney, said her last words to him were I love you. No suspects have been identified and the case remains unsolved. Texas City Crimestoppers is offering a cash reward, detectives are reviewing nearby surveillance footage, and the family has a GoFundMe page to help with funeral expenses.
