Dalton Lee Shaw, 26, of Rockdale, Texas, was fatally shot on the early morning of May 8, 2021, in an incident south of Rockdale. The Milam County Sheriff’s Office found him deceased at the scene after responding to a shooting call; two other people were wounded and taken to hospitals. Authorities reported the shooting grew out of an argument over property.

Dalton was born November 9, 1994, in Abilene and attended schools in Pflugerville, Round Rock, Jacksboro, and Cisco. He also studied government policies at Austin Community College. Israel Ballester, 39, of Pflugerville was arrested the same day and charged with murder and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon; he was booked into the Milam County Jail with bond set at $600,000. Investigators said none of those involved appeared to live in Milam County full time.
