Mathew Nock, a 33-year-old man from Jacksonville, Texas, died of a gunshot wound to the head on May 3, 2021. The shooting occurred in the 500 block of Myrtle Drive. Mathew was found with the injury and was flown from UT Health in Jacksonville to UT Tyler, where he was pronounced dead.

Christopher M. Blackwell, 35, of Jacksonville, was arrested at the scene. Witnesses reported a verbal dispute between Mathew and Christopher before the shooting. Jacksonville police arrested Christopher and the Texas Rangers took over the investigation.
