Derion Chambers was an 18-year-old senior at Ball High School who died after being shot in the parking lot of a Whataburger in La Marque, Texas. He was found on the night of December 31, 2020, and taken to Mainland Medical Center, where he died. Chambers was born in Galveston and is the son of Brandi Chambers and Keith Andrews; family and friends remembered his contagious smile and his love of writing rap songs and making videos.
The La Marque Police Department investigated and charged 21-year-old Keandre Green with first-degree felony murder. At trial Green’s attorney pointed to another passenger, Daron Scott, as the shooter; the jury returned a not guilty verdict for Green. The department says the search for the remaining suspect continues and asks anyone with information to come forward.
