Oscar Jessie Rivera, a 22-year-old Hispanic man from Lufkin, Texas, died on November 26, 2020. He was remembered by family and community for a cheerful demeanor and a love of music. His funeral was held December 5, 2020, at Shafer Funeral Home, with interment at Hillcrest Cemetery.

The Angelina County Sheriff’s Office investigated and determined the death resulted from an accidental shooting. Ladarrius Alexander Greer pleaded guilty, admitting the shooting happened during a game and that he did not intend to harm Oscar. Greer was sentenced by Judge Todd Kassaw about 45 days after his plea.
