Darrell J. Thierry, 65, was killed in his Buda, Texas, home on November 21, 2020 during an altercation with his son. Roberts then went to a bedroom, retrieved a handgun, and shot his father multiple times.

After the shooting Roberts tried to push through deputies in an apparent escape attempt but was eventually taken into custody. He was charged with first-degree murder and third-degree attempted escape from custody while confined and is awaiting further legal proceedings. The Hays County Sheriff’s Office is handling the investigation and has asked anyone with information to come forward.
