Elijah Moore, a 38-year-old white man, was shot and killed at his home in the 200 block of Rob Lane in DeSoto, Texas, on July 3, 2020. Police responded after a neighbor called following a report from Elijah’s teenage son that his grandfather had shot his father. Officers entered with a ballistic shield, detained 58-year-old William Daniel Bill Moore without resistance, and found Elijah unresponsive on the utility room floor with multiple gunshot wounds. A handgun was located nearby and Elijah was pronounced dead at the scene despite aid from police and DeSoto EMS.

Investigators say the shooting followed a physical altercation between Elijah and his father; after interviewing the juvenile witness and the alleged shooter, police concluded Bill Moore shot his adult son. Bill Moore was charged with murder, a first-degree felony, and taken to jail. Child Protective Services took custody of Elijah’s teenage son because no other family members were present. The DeSoto Criminal Investigations Division and the Dallas County Physical Evidence Section processed the scene and the investigation remains ongoing.

Does anyone have information about the family, the neighborhood, or the events leading up to that evening that could help the investigation?
