Samuel Salazar, a 17-year-old male from Dallas, Texas, was found dead in an alley in Richardson on July 3, 2020. Officers responding to a call about a person lying in the alley in the 800 block of South Sherman Street arrived about 7:25 p.m. and discovered Salazar with an apparent gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives are treating his death as a homicide.

The Richardson Police Department has released surveillance images of a light-colored Hyundai Elantra with visible body damage believed to be connected to the case. Occupants of that vehicle are being sought as persons of interest. No arrests have been announced and the investigation remains active.
